Stop plastic wrapped bananas

If only bananas had a natural, protective skin that’s easy to peel and biodegradable so they wouldn’t need a plastic wrap… WAIT A MINUTE!!!?

It’s time to put a stop to plastic wrapped bananas. 7- Eleven holds a seventy percent market share in the convenience store category in Thailand. As of now, there are an estimated 7-Eleven 10,300 stores nationwide. Plastic has a huge president in 7-Eleven, through straws wrapped in plastic, plastic packaging and the most maddening of all, a single banana in plastic packaging. Despite 7-Eleven making some steps to reducing plastic bags within their campaigns, more needs to be done and fast!

If you think wrapping individual bananas in single-use plastic wraps is just insane in the membrane, please join me in signing the Change.org petition to 7-Eleven by Less Plastic is Fantastic.

We implore you to stop selling bananas (singles or bunches) in plastic packaging. Not only is this having a devastating impact on the environment, but the plastic packaging also speeds up the ripening process of the bananas, meaning a shorter shelf life and inevitably creating more waste in the long run.

Thank you for taking the time to read this article and for signing the petition to ban the use of plastic wrapping on bananas (single or bunches). Signing this petition is a step closer to ensuring 7-Eleven starts to take responsibility for the staggering amount of plastic waste they produce.
