Allbirds
Allbirds created the most comfortable, sustainable trainers I have ever owned. After experiencing some knee pains, I searched for the perfect pair of sustainable trainers that would be good for rushing around concrete streets as well as the very occasional jog. Usually, there is a “wearing in” period, but this was just pure joy from day one. The interior is delightfully soft, the tread is excellent for protecting the knees, and when wearing them around in London during light showers, it’s surprising that they are both breathable but not soggy and damp. Allbirds trainers consist of merino sheep’s wool, eucalyptus tree fibres and sugar cane, and the laces are made from recycled plastic bottles. A snug, comfy fit, made out of innovative sustainable materials.
Veja
Veja is a case of ethics meets aesthetics with trendy designs bound to give a contemporary urban look. As I am not huge on branding, I opted for trainers without a colourful V on the side, but there’s a colour to match anyone. The shoes are made from chrome-free leather, the lining is organic cotton, and recycled polyester and the soles are made from wild rubber from the Amazonian forest. Comfortable, simple and stylish, they’ve become a millennial staple.
Po-Zu
