Ways to clean your bathroom using vinegar and bicarb
How to clean windows, glass and mirrors
Grab an empty container to dispense into and, depending on how much you need to clean your bathroom, mix one part of white vinegar to 10 parts of water.
Spray your dirty surfaces and wipe with a cloth. Since there\’s no alcohol to dry the mixture, you can use another dry dishcloth or old newspaper to wipe clean.
How to clean glass shower screens
Reach for a lemon to get the shower screens shining. Fill lemon juice into a reusable spray bottle and dilute with water. Every time you take a shower, you can spritz the lemony water onto the glass shower screen to keep it fresh and clean.
How to clean bath and shower surfaces
For enamel baths, lightly sprinkle a little bit of bicarb and rub it onto the bath surface with a damp cloth. Give the bath or shower bottom a good rinse clean and buff to shine with a dry cloth.
How to clean sink taps
To get your taps shining, pour half vinegar to half water into your repurposed spray bottle. Spritz onto your tabs and buff off with a dry cloth.
Be careful using vinegar, it is suitable to get rid of limescale on metal taps and certain surface. It\’s not suitable for plated taps, stone tiles, limestone, marble or granite. You can read this post on other places where it\’s not advised to use vinegar to avoid getting caught out.
How to clean the toilet
To clear off limescale, create a ball of toilet paper and soak it in vinegar to pad around the rim.
To get rid of smell odours, pour a cup of bicarbonate of soda into the toilet bowl once a week.
Bust brown stains in the toilet with vinegar and an old toothbrush.
How to clean the sinkhole
For general cleanliness, pour a teaspoon of bicarb down the sinkhole with a drop of lemon juice to ensure the pipework is clear of foul smells.
For a blocked sink, chuck a 125g of bicarb down the drain followed by a cup of vinegar. Come back in an hour and pour a kettle of boiling water down there.
I hope you find these tips useful. If you find the smell of vinegar too strong, you can always try creating the lemon-infused version. There\’s a blog with the steps of how to make it here.
